Commercial Window Cleaning FAQs
Straight answers to the questions facilities managers and business owners ask us most, from how we clean and what we’re insured for to prices, areas and scheduling.
Do you clean homes?
No. We don’t clean private houses or individual flats. We work for businesses and block management companies: offices, shops, schools, industrial units, apartment blocks, care homes, hotels and other commercial buildings.
How do you clean commercial windows?
Mostly from the ground, with water-fed poles and purified water. Our poles reach 70ft; above that, our specialist access partner provides cherry pickers or rope access. Shop fronts and internal glass are cleaned by hand where that gives the best finish.
Do you use chemicals or detergents?
Not for window cleaning. We clean glass with purified water only, so nothing harmful runs off into drains, planting or paving. Cladding sometimes needs a treatment for algae or mould, and we’ll explain it at your site survey.
Can windows be cleaned in the rain?
Usually, yes. Light rain doesn’t normally spoil a pure-water clean, because the glass has already been rinsed with purified water. If the weather makes it unsafe to work, such as in high winds, we’ll rearrange your visit.
Why are my windows wet after a clean?
Because pure water is left to dry on the glass. It has nothing in it to leave a mark, so the windows dry clear without streaks, and wiping them would only spoil the finish.
Do you clean internal glass?
Yes. We clean internal glass, partitions and screens by hand, and can include them in your regular clean.
What other services do you offer?
Gutter cleaning and cladding cleaning, mainly for our window cleaning clients. Gutters are cleared from the ground with the SkyVac gutter vacuum system.
Safety & compliance
Insurance, RAMS and working at height
Are you insured?
Yes. Every operator holds at least £2 million of public liability insurance, and we also hold employers’ liability and products liability cover. Certificates come with your quote.
Do you provide risk assessments and method statements?
Yes. We prepare a risk assessment and method statement (RAMS) for every new site, free of charge. You can request copies once you’ve accepted your quote.
Do you use ladders?
Only when there’s no safer way, and never above 20 feet. Water-fed poles let us clean almost every window from the ground. Are ladders banned for window cleaners?
Are your staff vetted and trained?
Yes. Our operators are DBS-checked and uniformed, trained to use water-fed poles, and IPAF-certified for powered access.
Will you follow our site rules and inductions?
Yes. We work to your site rules, sign-in procedures and inductions, and plan access with you before the first clean.
How much does commercial window cleaning cost?
It depends on your building. The main factors are the amount of glass, its height and how we reach it, access on site, and how often you’d like it cleaned. We’ll give you a written price, after a free site survey if we need to see the building.
Are quotes and site surveys free?
Yes. Quotes and site surveys are free, with no obligation.
How quickly will I get a quote?
We reply to quote requests within 2 hours during office hours: Monday to Friday 8am–5pm and Saturday 8am–12pm.
Do you take on small jobs?
Yes. We take on jobs of every size, from a single shop front to a whole business park.
How often should our windows be cleaned?
It depends on the building and footfall. As a guide, a busy shop front might need a weekly clean, an office monthly and an industrial unit quarterly, but every site is different. We’ll recommend a schedule when we quote.
Which areas do you cover?
South Yorkshire: Sheffield (S1–S36), Rotherham (S60–S66, S25 and S26), Doncaster (DN1–DN14) and Barnsley (S70–S75). We also have regular work in Wakefield, Dinnington and Worksop, and we’re taking on work in Chesterfield.
Where are you based?
In Rotherham, right in the middle of South Yorkshire, so we can reach sites across the region easily.
Can you clean outside our opening hours?
Often, yes. We plan every clean around your opening hours, and where your site allows it, we can work early or while you’re closed.
Who do I contact if there’s a problem?
Our office, during office hours. Email us or call 01709 464242, and if anything’s not right, we’ll come back quickly and put it right.
